Summer, and We’re Running out of Ice – RaJon Staunton

I’ll admit it:

all I’ve been thinking about
lately is death and the smell

of pink roses, but
what is a nature poem
if not an ode

to the ways we mold the air
around our desires for
the season;
if not a way to describe

how similar
blood and summer-
time taste
when they drip
fresh from the sky?
