I dreamt we were walking – Kate LaDew

in the haunted woods behind the house where I grew up
ghost horses galloped, braided manes sparking in the dark
we waited and waited and waited for them to reach us
but they ebbed and flowed like waves towards the tree-line and back
when I woke up, I was miles away
the thrum of their hooves followed me all day

Kate LaDew is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA in Studio Arts. She lives in Graham, NC with her cats James Cagney and Janis Joplin.
